Waukesha's Mayor A "No Show" for President's Stop Thursday

(Waukesha)--A list of who’s who will either welcome President Obama when he arrives in Waukesha or be in attendance when he speaks at the GE Energy plant here on Thursday, including Governor Scott Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. But someone who will be noticeably absent is Waukesha’s own mayor.

Mayor Jeff Scrima says he won’t attend because he says Obama’s visit is all about political posturing and the president’s personal relationship with GE's CEO. He says the people of waukesha are the ones who should be getting the spotlight through their hard work and innovation.

In the past, he's also turned down invitations from Governor Scott Walker and U.S. Representative Paul Ryan.

Regardless of who shows, the city of Waukesha says its prepared. The police department is working with the Waukesha Sheriff’s Department and the secret service to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. Law enforcement want the public to know this is an invitation event only.
