WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A water project in Waukesha was expected to cost $300 million.
Officials announced Wednesday, Aug. 12, nearly half the cost will be covered by a loan from the EPA.
Construction on the Great Lakes Water Supply Project is expected to begin this year.
The project will bring water from Milwaukee's water supply to customers in Waukesha.
"Regardless of where you live in this country and regardless of your zip code, everyone is entitled to clean air and clean water. And this loan will help guarantee that to the citizens of this city."
The project is expected to create 1,000 jobs.
