Waukesha Meijer generated over $25K for local food pantry

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) --- The Waukesha Meijer generated $25,750 for The Food Pantry Serving Waukesha County in 2020, according to officials.

Food pantries across the Midwest saw an increased need due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, Meijer and its customers donated more than $7.6 million in to help feed hungry families through the retailer's Simply Give program. This equates to 76 million meals for food pantries across the Midwest, according to a news release. Feeding America says $1 equals 10 meals.

The holiday campaign total brings the program's overall donation to more than $61 million, or 610 meals, since its inception in 2008, according to officials.
