WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) --A man could face criminal charges after allegedly taking a boy last Friday who was playing a game of "ding-dong ditch" -- a childish prank that took a dangerous turn in Waukesha.

A young boy called 911 last at around 8:15 p.m. saying a man took his friend during a game of ding-dong ditch.

Dispatch audio describes the search for a missing boy Friday night. A child called police saying his friend was taken from the area of Wolf Road and E. Moreland Blvd.

The investigation revealed four boys, ages 12 and 13, were playing ding-dong ditch -- a prank that involves ringing someone's doorbell and running away. Police say one neighbor got so upset he threatened the boys and took one of them.

"He said that the male said, 'I'm going to F-ing kick your butt if you do that again, before he got out and grabbed the friend," revealed the audio obtained by CBS 58.

According to the audio, the boy told police that the stranger said he was going to take his friend home to his parents or to the police department.

Police later found him and the boy in the Woodman's parking lot.

Now, authorities are recommending charges of disorderly conduct, intimidation of a victim and false imprisonment.

Police said it's important for parents to know what their kids are doing and to understand the seriousness of causing a disturbance like this. As innocent as this maybe, childhood pranks can get out of hand and escalate rapidly.
