A Waukesha County woman's brave decision to make sure nobody's son has to deal with the addiction her son did is the new Waukesha County Champion of the Year.
Sandi Lybert, co-founder of Your Choice to Live, Inc., received the honor Wednesday during the annual Waukesha County Executive Awards luncheon.
The group logs thousands of miles talking with schools and groups about prevention.
She got the idea about 8 years ago when her son was in treatment again.
"My husband said we're gonna go after every drug dealer and that's how we're gonna solve this problem," recalls Lybert. " I said we can't. We have to go after the demand."
2017 Business of the Year went to family operated R& R Insurance Services, Inc. for its commitment to community.
The 2017 Small Non-Profit went to Oconomowoc Silver Streak, which provides rides to seniors and people with disabilities.
The 2017 Large Non-Profit went to Hebron House of Hospitality which helps homeless men, women and children get the support they need to find a path to permanent housing.
Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow continued a 22 year tradition of saying thank you to those who give selflessly to community.
