MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As snow continues to fall, there's a new danger creeping in - ice.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reminding people "no ice is safe ice."

The DNR says to be extra careful on all the state's waterbodies.

They're asking Wisconsinites to stay alert to changing ice conditions as they can be unpredictable this time of year.

Some tips:

  • Wear proper clothing and equipment.
  • Do not travel in unfamiliar areas or at night.
  • Always have a plan.

The DNR says it's also a good idea to carry a charged phone and let someone know where you're headed.
