Waukesha County marks milestone in courthouse renovation with ceremonial beam raising
CBS 58 WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) — Waukesha County leaders marked a major milestone Wednesday in the years-long renovation of the Waukesha County Courthouse with a ceremonial beam raising.
County officials gathered outside the courthouse for the event, which highlighted progress on a project aimed at improving the building's entrance, public spaces and security.
The renovation includes work on the courthouse's front entrance, expanded walkable areas for visitors and additional safety and security improvements.
While courthouses are often associated with criminal cases and legal proceedings, county leaders said the Waukesha County Courthouse also serves as the setting for important moments in people's lives.
"There are some fun things that happen here," Waukesha County Director of Public Works Allison Bussier said. "There are adoptions, a lot of weddings, but if you haven't been a part of any of those, we'll invite you to come and see the courtroom, see our space. It will be safe, it will be easy to find your way around, and we're really pleased at the progress we're making."
County officials say the renovation is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2027.
