WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities are canvassing several Waukesha County lakes Thursday afternoon, Nov. 2, after the US Coast Guard received a watercraft in distress signal.
According to Western Lakes Fire District, the Milwaukee Coast Guard received a radio distress signal stating, "Mayday, Mayday, Mayday."
The coordinates plotted in the area of Okauchee Lake, but officials say the accuracy of the plot was several miles, encompassing several northern Waukesha County lakes.
Authorities say the Coast Guard attempted to contact the boater over the radio with no reply.
Area law enforcement agencies and local resources are canvassing Okauchee Lake for distressed boaters, and Flight for Life provided a fly-over of several Waukesha County lakes and located what they believed to be debris.
The city of Delafield Police said it was determined that there were no boaters in distress, and that any items located were not from anything recent.
They did not locate and debris or missing persons.
At this time, police are unsure what caused the distress signal.
