WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A local family is without a home, clothes and toys just days before Christmas following a fire.
The Lisbon Fire Department responded to the scene on Sunday, Dec. 22. Luckily, the family of five was not hurt.
Donations are being accepted for the family's three daughters.
"We've asked people to bring donations, we've given sizes for the girls for clothing and the family could certainly use gift cards," said community member Lori Lewandowski. She doesn’t know the family, but felt compelled to help. “Right away I started calling my mom and dad, my children. I’m like let’s all kick in some money and help this family out. I can’t imagine. I was devastated to hear the news,” she said.
The following information was provided:
- 7 year old girl: size 7 for tops, 6x for pants, and 12 shoes
- 4 year old girl: size 4 for tops and pants, size 9 in shoes
- 2 year old girl: 2T for clothes, and size 7 for shoes
A post on Facebook says the girls love Frozen, stuffed animals, board games, and books. Donations can be given to the Town of Merton Fire Department.
“They’re just stopping by, and people who are coming with bags from the store, they went and bought gifts for the kids, “ said Tom Seidl of the Merton Community Fire Department.
A fundraising page has also been created to help the family. People have donated about $50,000 in just a day. CLICK HERE for more.
