Illinois man dies, another in critical condition after Milwaukee car crash near 16th and Canal

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a two car crash after a Waukegan man died Friday, March 5.

It happened at 8:24 p.m. in the 100 block of 16th street.

Police say a 42-year-old man from Waukegan, Illinois died from his injuries at a local hospital.

A 36-year-old Waukegan man was also rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Police say the accident happened when one vehicle drove through a red light and struck another car who was making a U-Turn.

The two men were in the car making the U-Turn.

The driver of the striking vehicle, an 18-year-old Milwaukee man, sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive.

He was transported to a local hospital and was arrested.

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the upcoming days.
