Watertown repair shop to donate a vehicle to a local community member

WATERTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Northside Auto in Watertown has teamed up with Wheels To Prosper to donate a vehicle to a deserving person in the community.

According to a news release, the 2020 car for Northside Auto's Wheels To Prosper campaign is a 2010 Ford Escape and will be sold to a deserving community member for $1 on Sept. 11. 

Officials say it is a reliable vehicle which has been thoroughly inspected and repaired. The parts were donated b y Bumper to Bumper and the vehicle was detailed at Five Star Detailing. 

"It should make a reliable & safe vehicle for the recipient" John Mason, owner of Northside Auto said." Parts and services are relatively available, they are inexpensive to fix, inexpensive to insure it should just be a good car and not put a large financial burden on them. I think it's going to be an awesome car for someone.”

Northside Auto said it is looking for an individual who demonstrates selflessness, cares for others, and has a need for transportation.

"We are looking for a person that is not looking for a handout, but a hand up," Mason said. "They are the type of people who always put other’s needs before their own and that's the person we are looking for because truly the person that deserves this opportunity to get a car for a dollar would never nominate themselves.”

HOW TO ENTER

If you know someone who you think is deserving of a Wheels to Prosper car, Nominations will be accepted via mail to 'Wheels to Prosper' C/O Northside Auto 1718 South Church Street, Watertown WI, 53094

All nominations need to include the following information:

- Nominating person’s name, address, and phone number

- Why that person believes the nominated person needs & deserves the opportunity to purchase the car for one dollar

- Nominee’s name, address and phone number

The winner will be announced Sept. 11th at Northside Auto in Watertown.
