Washington County Sheriff's Office: 50-year-old woman overdoses behind the wheel, crashes car

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 50-year-old woman was arrested for OWI after police say she overdosed behind the wheel.

It happened around 11:00 p.m. Sunday on US 45 near Pleasant Valley Road in the Town of Polk.

Investigators say the Town of Wayne woman and her passenger, a 35-year-old Village of Slinger man, both had done heroin and other drugs before the crash. The man told the woman to exit on Pleasant Valley Road when he noticed she could no longer control the vehicle and then went unresponsive. The man couldn't get the woman to take her foot off the accelerator and couldn't steer the car back onto the on-ramp of 45. The car went through the intersection at highway speeds and flipped into a ditch.

The woman was given Narcan and taken to a nearby hospital by Flight for Life. She was then arrested for OWI first offense and OWI causing minor injuries to the passenger.
