Warmer Today, Showers & Storms Possible Later

Memorial Weekend is just around the corner, and this is always a reminder that summer is on the way! It certainly is starting to look more and more like summer is moving in with the green grass and the budding trees. The temperatures and the precipitation are coming back around as well with the departures getting closer to normal. The last 7-10 days have led to above average temperatures and precipitation.

The temperatures stay warm once again today with highs jumping back into the 70s ahead of a trough. This trough will be slow-moving. It will lead to a few rounds of showers and storms later today, tonight, and into Tuesday. A few storms could contain gusty winds and small hail. The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a thunderstorm risk; west of Madison, the SPC has a marginal risk of strong to severe storms. In that location, hail will be the primary threat up to 1” in diameter. The rain and storm threat will continue until Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the threat of stronger storms will diminish with the lack of dynamics.
