FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The popular Walleye Weekend festival is returning to Fond du Lac's Lakeside Park June 9-12.
"Walleye Weekend is our big festival here in Fond du Lac," explained Pete Wilke, executive director with Fond du Lac Festivals. "It kicks off the summer, so we're really excited to get everybody out to Lakeside Park."
Back for its 44th year, the weekend includes tons of activities for people of all ages to enjoy, including a fishing tournament, softball and cornhole tournaments, live music, family fun entertainment shows and delicious food.
"Good weather will bring out 70,000 people," Wilke said. "Hopefully we get that this year."
The weekend serves as a major fundraising opportunity for nonprofits in the Fond du Lac area.
"Anywhere between $200,000 and $250,000 goes back to area nonprofits," Wilke explained. "We have over 30 nonprofits that come together to help run this festival because it is so large, and we want to give back to all of those and serve their missions and make sure they're doing good."
More details on the festival can be found here.
