Volunteers wanted to host homeless animals for Thanksgiving

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) wants the animals in their care to enjoy Thanksgiving outside the shelter, but they need your help. WHS is looking for volunteers to host a four-legged friend for the holiday.

WHS says those interested can offer their home and heart to an animal in need for a day or two, or even longer.

There's no experience necessary for the short-term commitment. WHS will provide supplies, instructions, and buckets of gratitude.

"A few days in a loving foster home decreases stress and helps our dogs stay healthier," WHS said.

WHS' goal is to have 50 dogs celebrating Thanksgiving in a home and not the shelter.

Volunteers should be able to pick up their house guests at their nearest WHS campus on Wednesday, Nov. 27 or Friday, Nov. 29.
