Barthel Fruit Farm MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A farm in Mequon asked for help to pick apples to supply area food pantries, and the response was overwhelming.
Barthel Fruit Farm, located on Farmdale Road in Mequon, says after putting out a call for help, the amount of people who showed up exceeded their hopes.
Folks gathered and picked 504 bushels, equaling 20,160 pounds of apples!
"Our trees are empty, and our hearts are full!"
According to Barthel Fruit Farm, there were enough apples to supply Ozaukee Food Alliance, Falls Area Food Pantry, Full Shelf Food Pantry, and schools in the inner city.
The farm said in a social media post, "Thank you for your participation and support! We always knew we have the best customers."
Amazing!
