MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - The Hunger Task Force is making sure families have a hearty Easter dinner this year.
Volunteers spent Wednesday morning putting together hundreds of festive dinner boxes. The boxes are full of healthy foods like canned fruits and veggies, cereal, milk, and an Easter ham.
Local food pantries then picked up the boxes and will hand them out to families just in time for the Sunday holiday.
"Easter is always a wonderful time for the children and they know nothing of what the parents are dealing with, they're looking at the excitement and through Hunger Task Force, we're able to make that happen for them," Mattie Allen with Amani Food Pantry said.
Volunteers packed 500 boxes Wednesday.
The Hunger Task Force says the boxes have enough food to feed families for a week.
