MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- VISIT Milwaukee reached out to the Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday, Aug. 18, in response to "a few outdated Milwaukee jokes" made during the show's satirical virtual tour of Milwaukee Monday night.
Their "Very Official Memo," written to Colbert, declares a moratorium on "tired Milwaukee jokes" and offers up some fresh topics should they find themselves in need of new ones.
VISIT Milwaukee spoke with CBS 58 about the memo.
"The jokes are decades old," VISIT Milwaukee Senior Media Relations Manager Claire Koenig. "We just thought why don't we suggest a little new material, it looks like their's had been picked up from a Google search in the '80s."
The memo also includes links to a virtual tour and two new commercials featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo.
"We hope you will take these new guidelines under advisement and eagerly await your revised material," VISIT Milwaukee writes.
