MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --The Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) is launching the Wisconsin Residency of Violins of Hope.
Over the next five months, stringed instruments played by Jewish musicians before and during the Holocaust will be featured at events hosted by performing arts groups, churches, museums and schools statewide.
"We have nearly 60 middle and high schools who will witness these instruments in their school, learning the lessons of the instruments and the stories, along with lessons of the Holocaust," said Linda Edelstein, CEO of MYSO.
A grand opening celebration featuring MYSO students performing with the instruments and telling their stories will be held Sept. 17 at UW-Milwaukee.
