MIDDLETON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Middleton police officer and dispatcher are both back at work this week after being involved in a head-on collision.
They were doing a ride along on Feb. 15 when an alleged drunk driver crashed into their squad.Â
All three were hospitalized following the crash.
The officer and dispatcher suffered minor injuries and were released from the hospital.
Middleton's police captain says the crash could have easily been worse.
"I think the fact the officer was able to come to a complete stop before the collision assists as well, and there's airbags all over those things now," said Cpt. Jeremy Geiszler. "All of them went off, I think I counted at least 10 airbags that had been deployed in our squad, which is also helpful to prevent those injuries."
The driver of the other car was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The department says it hopes this video shows the dangers of impaired driving.
