Milwaukee Public Museum to stay open through 2026 before relocating
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- This was the scene on Saturday, July 29 around 9:35 a.m. at UWM's Sandburg Hall - A helicopter was removing the radio tower that has sat on top of the building piece by piece.
The tower was airlifted from the roof to Chapman/Enderis parking lot, which is close to the campus.
Areas around Sandburg Hall, including streets and sidewalks, were closed during the operation.
According to a UWM spokesperson, "The little-used radio tower was becoming increasingly obsolete, so removing it was a safer and more cost-effective option than repairing and maintaining it. Private organizations and government agencies who remained interested in its services have been accommodated with other solutions."
