MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- From the development of a Novavax COVID-19 vaccine variant, the identification of common long-Covid symptoms, cognitive decline after heart attacks, a stagnation in the decrease of teen birth rates and a concerning trend in women's medication adherence due to cost, health topics are no stranger to the headlines lately.
To offer insights about the latest in health, we were joined by Dr. Jeff Pothof, Chief Quality Officer at UW Health on Tuesday, June 13.
He discussed that an updated COVID-19 vaccine is likely to offer protection against other fast-growing coronavirus variants. In addition, Dr. Pothof discussed a new government report which identified the most common long-COVID symptoms, including brain fog and loss of taste and smell.
He also pointed to a recent study on heart attacks, which found that such an event could potentially lead to an accelerated cognitive decline in the subsequent years, beyond what is generally expected with aging.
