UPDATE: Search Underway for Missing Fisherman

UPDATE: On Saturday, October 7 at around 7:15 AM several citizens called to report an unoccupied boat near the shoreline of Lake Monona, adjacent to John Nolen Drive. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Marine and Trail Enforcement deputies responded to find the empty boat, which contained indicators a fisherman had been on board.

Deputies were able to confirm the boat was launched from a nearby landing on Thursday, October 6.

Dane County Detectives, along with Marine and Trail Enforcement Deputies searched Lake Monona all day Saturday without locating the missing boater. The boat did not appear to have damage and there was no evidence it was involved in a collision.

The family of the missing boater has been notified and Sheriff’s Office personnel will continue search efforts to locate the missing boater.


ORIGINAL: A search is underway in Dane County for a missing boater. 

According to Dane County Sheriff's Office, around 7:15 AM several citizens reported an unoccupied boat near the shoreline of Lake Monona.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Marine and Trail Enforcement deputies responded to find the empty boat, which contained indicators a fisherman had been on board.

Deputies were able to confirm the boat was launched from a nearby landing on Thursday, October 6, 2016. 

Dane County Detectives, along with our Marine and Trail Enforcement Deputies have searched Lake Monona all day without locating the missing boater.

The boat did not appear to have damage and there was no evidence it was involved in a collision.

The family of the missing boater has been notified and Sheriff’s Office personnel will continue search efforts to locate the missing boater.
