UPDATE: Police Officer Killed after Being Shot in Kansas City

UPDATE: The police officer has died after being shot earlier today in Kansas City. 

ORIGINAL: KANSAS CITY (KCTV) A police officer in Kansas City is in critical condition after being shot Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting happened following an armed disturbance call at about 1:33 p.m. An individual said three or four parties were shooting in his direction. 

Officers arrived on the scene at 1:37 p.m. The officer was shot at 1:58 p.m., according to police. He attempted to make contact with another suspect in the area. 

Police on scene say the officer responded alone to a shots fired call. 

Officer Tom Tomasic said on the scene multiple suspects are in custody.

This comes just after two months following the death of KCK police detective Brad Lancaster. Lancaster was shot and killed May 9 near the Kansas Speedway.
