UPDATE: 15-Year-Old Arrested after Threat to Mequon School

UPDATE: Mequon Police Department executed a search warranted Friday morning and arrested a 15-year-old. The teen will be charged with making a bomb threat and unlawful use of computer system.

Police believe the teen acted alone, but the police department takes all threats seriously.

The Mequon-Thiensville School District made the decision to cancel classes at Homestead High School on Friday, January 22 for all students and staff. The cancellation is due to a specific threat made against the high school. The school district sent out a letter and phone calls to alert parents.

The Mequon Police Department is investigating the threat which was made on a social media site. That post has since been taken down.

All other schools in the district will remain open, but a greater police presence will be in place. When Homestead High School reopens, the Mequon Police Department will be providing security screenings at the school.

A decision on evening activities at the high school will be made by Noon on Friday.

A press conference is expected Friday at 10:00 AM with more details.
