Two kayakers rescued after overturning, hanging onto downed tree in Cedar Creek

OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two kayakers were rescued after overturning and floating downstream in Cedar Creek.

According to the Sheriff's Office, it happened shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

The two kayakers were located hanging onto a downed tree in the water.

Both were rescued. They've been identified as a 57-year-old male and a 59-year-old female, both residents of Cedarburg. The male was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The female was treated and released at the scene.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to "STAY AWAY FROM FAST MOVING BODIES OF WATER" including Cedar Creek and the Milwaukee River due to the current flooding conditions.
