TRAFFIC ALERT: 84th And 70th St. Off Ramps Along I-94 Eastbound Set to Reopen This Morning

Drivers using the I-94 eastbound corridor near the Zoo Interchange will be in for a pleasant surprise this morning.  Starting at 5:30 a.m. commuters will once again have access to two key exit ramps that have been closed for months.

The 84th St. exit ramp near State Fair Park will once again be open to drivers following an extensive rebuild and reconstruction but will only allow access to the southbound section of 84th St. If you need to access the northbound lanes you will still need to detour as before.  Drivers will be able to access the northbound side in late June.

Also reopening at the same time is the I-94 eastbound exit ramp to 70th St. This ramp closed back in early December of 2015 for reconstruction as well.  Unlike 84th St. drivers will have full access to both the north and southbound lanes once it opens.

Due to the reopening there will be a new traffic pattern in place along that stretch of freeway due to the rebuilds.  Plan on giving yourself some extra time until drivers get used to the new pattern.

Next week drivers will also lose a lane of traffic along I-94 eastbound between 76th and 68th St for the next few weeks. The lane closure is set to be in place by Wednesday morning.
