Update: 5-year-old girl in critical condition after house fire near 41st and Sheridan

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- According to a release from Milwaukee Police, officials responded to a fire near 41st and Sheridan around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday evening for a house fire. A 5-year-old girl suffered serious burns and is in critical condition.

A 28-year-old man was also injured and is in stable condition.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are being investigated.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 5-year-old girl is in a hospital after a fire in her home at N 41st Street and W Sheridan Avenue Wednesday night. Milwaukee Firefighters were called to the fire around 8 p.m. and were told there was a young girl in the building. Firefighters found the unresponsive child on the second floor of the house. Paramedics were able to resuscitate the child on the way to the hospital. According to Milwaukee Fire, the child was crying when she was admitted to the hospital, but her current condition is unknown. An adult man who also live in the home received minor burns to his arms.

Damage is estimated at $20,000 to the house and its contents; the cause of the fire is under investigation by the MFD investigation and Milwaukee Police Department.

Around 7:45 p.m., Milwaukee firefighters responded to a fire in a two-story home N 52nd and W Hadley Streets. They received the report that the elderly man who lived in the home was missing. Firefighters began to search the home, but the man was eventually found at a neighbor’s home. The Red Cross is assisting the man. The fire did an estimated  $20,000 damage to the home and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Firefighters also responded to a fire in a two-story, single family home at N 100th Street and W Greenwood Terrace. The fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. No information is available about the fire is available at this time.
