Three children injured; one man arrested following house fire

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee firefighters were called to a duplex at 24th and Maple around 7:45 a.m. for an attic fire. First responders found all residents made it out of the home safely. While nobody was injured by the fire, three children from that house ended up taking a trip to the hospital.

Following the fire, police arrested a 25-year-old Milwaukee man for physical abuse of a child. The children were treated and released by hospital staff.

The Milwaukee Fire Department reports the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and Milwaukee police say the fire does not appear to be suspicious. The home had no working smoke detectors.
