The Madness hits UWM: upset puts Panthers on verge of NCAA

GREEN BAY - In the days before the NCAA Tournament, the state of Wisconsin has a new college basketball story... and it's not the Badgers.

UW-Milwaukee rode a 28 point performance from Jordan Aaron to an overtime win, 73-66 over UW-Green Bay at the Resch Center, putting the Panthers just one win away from a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

UWM hasn't been mentioned in the Field of 68 discussion all season. They've reached 20 wins (after notching just 8 last season), but Rob Jeter's squad had a losing record in conference play in the regular season. But on Saturday, UWM showed a different level of energy, building an early 13 point lead against a UWGB team nearly unanimously chosen to win the Horizon League.

The Panthers face Wright State Tuesday night at 6:00 PM Central Time (on ESPN). The winner of that game gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
