MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- This holiday season, some local breweries and one ambitious chef are setting out to change the perception of Wisconsin cuisine beyond beer and brats.
Millioke (the beer, meat and cheese-centroid restaurant in Marriott Downtown) is celebrating the holiday season with “12 Beers of Christmas."
Now through Dec. 31, Millioke will feature 12 varieties of craft beer from six local Milwaukee breweries.
Each week guests will have the opportunity drink $3 pints of local brews and meet the talented minds behind the featured beers during weekly "Meet the Brew Master" nights.
This week features Westallion Brewing Co.
"Beer and food pairings is still relatively new," Westallion Owner Eric Dorfner tells CBS 58 News. "But it's gaining attention and steam. It's something we're very excited about."
The 12 Beers of Christmas all leads up to Millioke’s one-of-a-kind New Year’s Eve experience - the Beer Baron’s New Year’s Eve Dinner.
Millioke Executive Chef John Rudolph says they really don't train to pair food with beer, but craft beer is his passion.
"Just dealing with all the flavors," Chef Rudolph explains,"It's always fun to try new ways to do that."
