Several teen suspects are accused of stealing items from a Mount Pleasant Wal-Mart on Monday morning. One of those suspects also took a car from the parking lot, hit some parked cars and crashed into a wall.
The teens were reportedly stealing items from the Wal-Mart on S. Oakes Rd. by putting them into backpacks. Several of the suspects ran from the scene but were caught immediately by responding officers.
A 14-year-old female suspect is accused of taking a vehicle without permission from the parking lot, crashing it into two parked cars, nearly striking a pedestrian and finally running into a retaining wall.
After interviewing all of the suspects, officers learned that a 19-year-old female suspect was driving around three teenagers from Racine to various stores in the Racine area to steal items before stealing the items from Wal-Mart. There was also an eight-year-old child in the car.
Retail theft charges will be referred to the juvenile court for all of the teen suspects. The 19-year-old driver was arrested for retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 14-year-old female suspect will face charges of recklessly endangering safety, operating a vehicle without owner's consent and hit and run.
