Target offering 10% discounts to all weekend shoppers

WEST MILWAUKEE-Local shoppers just getting word Friday night about a nationwide discount offered to customers of Target stores.


Target is trying to make amends with millions of customers whose bank and credit card information was compromised by hackers.


The chain announced that it's offering a 10% discount to all customers shopping Saturday and Sunday.


Target's CEO also put out a message saying customers will not be financially responsible for fraudulent purchases and will be offered free credit monitoring services.


\"The message I would like to leave with our guests is that we value their business and we appreciate the trust they place in us as a friend and as a community partner,\" said Gregg Steinhafel.


Ever since world broke of the security breach, Steinhafel said the Target call center has been flooded with calls from concerned customers.


\"Currently it's unacceptable what guests are experiencing,\" he continued. \"We want to deliver a great experience so we're working around the clock to make sure we can deliver a great experience in our website and our call centers and right now its just not acceptable.\"

Network Correspondent John Miller of CBS News is reporting that investigators looking into the case have traced the origin of the hacking to a server in Southeast Asia near Vietnam.


But, that doesn't mean that's the location of the people responsible.
