Talking The Talk

I was asked to speak at a \"Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful\" event over the weekend.  There were more than a hundred people on hand.  And the first thing I did was explain to my audience how speaking before a crowd can be quite different compared to appearing on TV in front of a camera.  Once I told a joke (or maybe two), I briefly touched on how we all need to be better stewards when it comes to the environment.  A couple of things we can do include recycling and keeping as much waste as we can out of landfills.

I also mentioned how people who litter tend to have self-esteem and self-respect problems.  Many of them just don't care.  And eventually, their attitude can have an impact on all of us.  So how do you fix the problem?  It's a tough question.  Perhaps greater patrolling or maybe stiffer fines.  Or greater incentives for those who want to help keep our world a cleaner place.
