MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For the 12th year in a row, the history and culture of Bronzeville is being celebrated. Bronzeville Week kicked off Saturday.

And throughout the next six days, events will be happening all throughout the Bronzeville neighborhood.

"The Bronzeville business breakfast, the art walk, pancakes and poetry hosted by Mario Willis," said Tiffany Miller, owner of Fly Blooms. "It's just a really beautiful time to engage in the community."

Thursday there will be two trolly rides through the city. The perfect opportunity to visit and support the businesses in the area. Bingo cards will be passed out with savings on area hot spots.

"If you are in Milwaukee, I need you to come visit Bronzeville," said Miller. "It's... so much history here. This was the only place Black families could live, work and play at one point in time and we are a part of this renaissance."

Fly Blooms is located inside Bronzeville Collective MKE, with works from more than 30 different local artists. Bronzeville Week will also host an art walk on Saturday August, 12, where artists will create live art.

"It's an opportunity that shines light on this area for people to remember and to come back and support throughout the year," said Miller.
