GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) — A Sussex man was arrested after a stabbing at a Greenfield motel early Thursday morning left a Milwaukee man injured.

According to the Greenfield Police Department, officers responded shortly before 1:15 a.m. to the Hideaway Motel near South 27th Street and West Edgerton Avenue for a report of a stabbing.

Officers arrived within minutes and took a 31-year-old Sussex man into custody without incident. They provided medical aid to the 32-year-old Milwaukee man until paramedics arrived.

A preliminary investigation found the suspect and victim, who knew each other through a mutual acquaintance, were involved in an altercation before the stabbing.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

The investigation remains ongoing.
