Suspect arrested after threatening Walworth Co. partygoers with gun, firing at law enforcement

WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Walworth County officials say a suspect is in custody after threatening people with a gun at a house party early Thursday morning, Dec. 29.

Deputies responded to the home near County Highway D and Hamm Road in the Town of Spring Prairie around 2:11 a.m. and located at least 20 people in and around the residence.

Upon their arrival, a male suspect fled from the home and police chased on foot. 

Authorities say the suspect shot at the officers and disappeared into a wooded area. 

SWAT was called, along with a Suburban Mutual Assistance Response Team for additional officers. 

An alert was sent via text to those in the area and a perimeter was established.

Officials say the suspect was ultimately located and taken into custody. 

No one was injured in the incident, and authorities say there is no further threat to the public.

An investigation is ongoing.
