Suspect believed to be responsible for series of wildfires in Fond du Lac Co. arrested

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office says a man from Eden has been identified as the suspect in an arson investigation following years of "suspicious" wildfires in the area. 

Authorities say the 40-year-old man was identified after a lengthy investigation with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Officials say the suspect admitted to igniting wildfires in the area for nearly two decades, including several since 2020.

He's believed to be responsible for burning approximately 60 acres of land during this time. 

Lt. Chris Randall says charges of arson and intentionally setting fire to land have been referred to the district attorney in both Fond du Lac and Washington counties.
