'Super unfortunate': Drivers still stuck, frustrated day after blizzard turns roads icy

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Monday's blizzard is making it difficult for some drivers to get their cars out of the snow and ice.

"It's really icy, and lots of snow," said Marissa Fucaraino, whose car is stuck in ice.

Drivers tell CBS 58 while they understand Wisconsin can have a blizzard in mid-March, they wish more was done to clear the roads.

On Milwaukee's east side, Fucaraino was spinning her wheels.

"Not being able to break it up has been really hard and I'm getting kind of frustrated," said Fucaraino.

She spent nearly 20 minutes shoveling snow and trying to break her car free from the ice.

"I'm just trying to get out, run some errands...can’t get my car out of the snow though, so it's super unfortunate," said Fucaraino.

The blizzard left behind thick, hardened snow, icy spots and headaches for drivers.

"Take it slow, don't rush. Leave with plenty of time to get where you need to go," said Kevin Bline, driver.

"Road conditions have really improved over -- I've been here three years, and even with the snow, clearly they should be coming back and re-plow those places where people have parked previously overnight," said Brandon Munoz.

While the main roads are clear, side roads can have your car slipping and sliding.

"Overall, it was okay. Nothing too bad. I mean, there are a couple patches where it's going to be slippery," said Bline.

Eva Wilde is a student at UW-Milwaukee. She says the side roads aren't the only icy spots.

"A lot of places on campus aren't cleared off right now. I had class this morning and people were talking about slipping and falling," said Wilde.

As for Fucaraino, our CBS 58 crew and a good Samaritan were able to get her car out.
