Sunday evening fire damages north side home

Eight people are being assisted by the Red Cross after their north side home was damaged by a fire Sunday evening.   The fire was reported around 7 PM at N 28th Street and W Meinecke Avenue.  According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the fire was reported in the attic of the 2 ½ story wood frame house.  The eight people living in the home were able to get out of the building unharmed.  Damage to the house is estimated at $110,000.   The cause of the fire is being investigated.  There were no working smoke detectors in the structure.
