Summerfest Marketplace opens in Mitchell International Airport

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The main terminal at Mitchell International Airport will look different the next time you visit.

County leaders unveiled the new Summerfest Marketplace Wednesday, Jan. 15.

It brings the music festival to travelers year-round. The store is a little more than 3,400 square feet. 

They're selling Summerfest gear and items from more than 30 local vendors. 

County Executive Chris Abele says the new store represents Milwaukee's retail philosophy.

"In the past year, you're seeing new stores and a refreshed look, and more people and more flights all the time. And that's because we have an amazing team here and a commitment to getting better everyday," he said. 

As part of the deal, 30-percent of the store's products will come from disadvantaged communities across the county.
