Students at Marquette University to offer new drink as part of partnership with Stone Creek Coffee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Marquette University's College of Business Administration's Blue and Gold Brewing LLC is officially partnering up with Stone Creek Coffee to develop a new drink.
"We learned a lot from our kind of initial success with the beer," said John Knapp, the executive director of Innovation Alley at Marquette University.
Blue and Gold Brewing LLC was formed in 2022. It is a student-run business venture that launched as part of an undergraduate learning program.
Their most recent collaboration between three Milwaukee-area craft breweries sparked the idea to transfer that business model over to the coffee brewers.
"It was a natural fit as a certified B Corp, they kind of represent the best you can find in the coffee business," added Knapp.
The director of development at Stone Creek Coffee, Drew Pond, told CBS 58 News that this aligns perfectly with their motto: "Never Stop Learning."
"The students at Marquette will get to experience what it looks like to take different coffees and potentially blend them, and how do we roast them? How do we brand them?" Pond said.
The details are still in the works and the group of students will be chosen early fall semester.
"We're always looking to learn through this process, but if we can assist others in that journey, then that's a win for us," Pond said.
The business venture includes a full hands-on experience on branding and marketing and dealing with sales and distribution.
"As we think about higher education moving into the future, applied opportunities to learn like this are really important," said Knapp.
Knapp said they expect their new coffee product to be released by the end of this year, and it will be distributed year-round.
