MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) received a warning from the state superintendent.
On Friday, the school board received a letter from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
In a letter, addressed to Superintendent Keith Posley, the state outlines MPS's failure to submit required financial data.
The letter states some of that information is more than eight months overdue.
The state says the lack of current data will likely lead to a decrease in funds for MPS.
DPI may also without state aid until it receives the missing data.
In a statement, the MPS board says they take matters seriously, and they are confident they'll be able to correct the course promptly.
