MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Preschool kids sang at Starms Early Childhood Center on Milwaukee's north side Thursday morning, Oct. 23.
They cut the ribbon on a newly-renovated playground -- one of four Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) renovations designed to promote green and healthy lifestyles. The idea is not only to let the kids play outside, but to learn about the outdoors as well.
"All schools have very unique and interesting aspects for their playground renovation, based upon what their community wanted. Here at Starms Early Childhood we have 3, 4 and 5-year-olds and what we're standing on is a representation of Lake Michigan as well as her three tributary rivers," said Angelina Koch, project specialist for MPS.
Four playgrounds have been renovated already and there's a fundraising effort to do the same for ten other Milwaukee Public Schools.
