Springtime brings warmth and a chance for strong storms

March is off and running! It's the first month of Meteorological Spring. This seasonal shift denotes one of our biggest transition months as we begin to wrap up tracking snow and replace it with severe storms and warming temps. Here's how the month has unfolded so far: 

You can already see the yo-yo ride March has taken us on for temperatures. And of course, it's the love hate relationship with Lake Michigan that shines this time of the year as we battle the cool lake breeze. Let me show you what I mean - Today through Friday will feature inland spots about ten degrees above locations near the lake. As the warmth peaks on Friday, so does the chance for severe storms. Warmth, more moisture and instability coming together will lead to storm development heading into Friday night. All modes of severe weather are possible and we will monitor this set up carefully in the hours and days ahead.
