'Spin that record, babe': Just dance as Bayshore hosts Dance Fest 2023 💃
GLENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Dance Fest 2023 is set to take place at Bayshore, as Nō Studios presents the event in The Yard, an open-air venue at Bayshore's core. The festival will offer the public a glimpse into Milwaukee's dance talent, free of charge. Bayshore announced the details in a Thursday, June 15 press release.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 24 at 2 p.m., Dance Fest 2023 aims to showcase a diverse range of dance forms from groups that include the following:
- Danceworks Performance MKE
- Dream Cheer and Dance Studio
- Ko-Thi Dance Company
- Milwaukee Irish Dance Company
- Moonwater Dance Project
- Nova Linea Contemporary Dance
- Salsabrositas
- Signature Dance Company
- True Skool
- Water Street Dance Milwaukee
The featured styles include salsa, contemporary, hip-hop, Irish step and African-inspired dance, among others.
Danni Gee, director of programming at The Joyce Theater in New York, will be attending as an honorary guest. With a 35-year tenure in the arts and entertainment industry, including a stint as a dancer with the celebrated Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and as a dance curator for New York City’s SummerStage festival, Gee brings extensive expertise to the event.
Nō Studios noted in the press release that they are eager to highlight the vibrant Midwest dance community, and to foster collaborations beyond Milwaukee.
