Southeast Wisconsin school districts create new adaptive bowling league for students with special needs
CBS 58 SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Wednesday, Feb. 4, marked the first match of an adaptive bowling league for students in the Sussex-Hamilton and Oak Creek School Districts - the first of its kind in southeast Wisconsin.
These student athletes have special needs but it's not stopping them from picking up a bowling ball and trying their hand at competitive bowling.
One of the coaches told CBS 58 they love to cheer for their teammates, and they'll even cheer for the other team.
"It's just a way for people to be in sports and that's all they've ever wanted to do is wear the school uniform and have people cheer for them just like everybody else," said Richard Dodd, Sussex-Hamilton adaptive sports co-coach.
Wednesday night may have been the first match up but it won't be the last.
These players will be back every week for the rest of the month.
