South Milwaukee house fire results in 1 fatality

SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A fatal fire occurred at a residence in South Milwaukee on Sunday, April 30, claiming the life of an 88-year-old woman, according to a press release issued by the South Milwaukee Fire Department on Monday, May 1.

Responders were dispatched to 1716 Manistique Ave. at 4:32 p.m. and extinguished the blaze.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

The South Milwaukee Fire Department, Police Department and State Fire Marshal are reportedly conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

SMFD took time in their press release to extend condolences to the victim's loved ones, while also expressing gratitude to the responding agencies for their professionalism.
