MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In Milwaukee, voting turned into a party on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Souls to the Polls joined with other community organizations to host its "Live at Capitol Drive" block party.
The event had plenty of free food and live music, but the real reason for the party, to encourage everyone to get out and vote.
Organizers say it's important to get out in the communities, to let people know their vote is power.
"Our future is in good hands, but you have to take the initiative to take charge of this situation. This is your country, this is your world, this is your state, this is your city, these are your communities," said Gregory Lewis, executive director and president with Souls to the Polls.
You don't have to wait until next month to cast your vote, absentee ballot drop boxes are already set up in many communities. In person early voting kicks off on Tuesday.
