MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In honor of National Volunteer Month, the American Red Cross has partnered with Peanuts, the famous Charles Shulz comic strip franchise, to encourage blood and platelet donations throughout April.

Donors of all blood types, particularly type O and those giving platelets, are needed to maintain a strong blood supply to support critical patient care in the area. To schedule a donation, visit RedCrossBlood.org, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App or call 1 (800) RED-CROSS.

As a token of appreciation, donors who give blood or platelets from April 1 - 23 will receive an exclusive Snoopy t-shirt, while supplies last. Additionally, those who donate between April 1 - 30 will be entered for a chance to win a three-night trip for two to Sonoma County, Calif.

Lizzle Payant, Donor Recruitment Account Manager with the American Red Cross, joined us on Tuesday, April 11 to share details about upcoming blood donation opportunities in the area during the Peanuts partnership.
